This poster design project was given to us by GFS, „ Government Finance Statistics “. Their work field is based on analysis and communication research of politics in Switzerland. A group of research workers have formulated theses on the subject of digitalization in context with our democracy in Switzerland. It is crucial to be aware of the impact our social media usage can have on our everyday life.Digital democracy is basically a contradiction in itself. Two enemies pushed together like two negatively charged magnets. The thesis talks about how digitalization could get so impactful that it could eventually break the democracy, i.e., the houses of parliament.

I felt like these theses were very provocative, so I tried to show that in my illustration with a phone that brutally hit the dome of the Bernese federal building resulting in heavy cracks which drag down to the foundation.

This Project started when corona had just broken out in full force and we had to stay home due to restrictions. It all began with cardboard,a pair of scissors, and some glue. With these three items I built three dimensional shapes, which were then composed and put into an atmosphere with multiple light sources. Then i photographed them to capture the shadows thrown by the shapes. This was a way to get a certain feeling of vividness and space.

Back at school we could then use the space and elements surrounding us to compose a poster. Together with Seraina Prell we created dynamic lettering out of varied fabrics and lots of thread. We used the illuminated glass wall to our advantage in that we wrote the lettering in negative space.

This is a personal project I created during a screen printing course in Bern. The idea for this design is based on the “stereoscopic effect“ also called “stereoscopic imaging”, which is a technique used to create a three-dimensional effect, adding an illusion of depth to a flat image. This can also be used to make parts of images invisible with a layering of two colors, for example blue and red.
